Development and Student Perception of Virtual Reality for Implant Surgery

(1) Introduction: New and innovative approaches to dental education have continued improve with time. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic forced change as social distancing implementations were enforced. Virtual reality was used a resource before the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become more essential due restrictions. can allow students be fully immersed in clinical environment without leaving their homes. (2) Methods: development of virtual (VR) for implant surgery described. Selected filled out survey after using program. Then, focus group discussion held analyze program further. (3) Results: Seven enrolled Advanced Predoctoral Implant Program (APIP) participated study. Qualitative analysis this study suggests that supplemental enhance student learning specific topics. Additionally, had positive outlooks hopeful use future particular topics subjects. (4) Discussion: advantages disadvantages VR application This allows operatory. provides an enhanced experience dentistry. Students displayed supportive attitudes towards applicability but considered adjunctive tool learning. (5) Conclusion: technology is promising. teaching dentistry offers enhancement, especially during these challenging times.
